We love having parent volunteers and can always use an extra pair of hands in the classroom day to day activities!
Each classroom teacher emails parents about the daily events, upcoming events and ways to help their children work on skills at home.
Conferences are offered two times per year to allow parents to communicate with the classroom teacher about their children’s progress
This is a series of three classes that help parents learn about how to establish boundaries, teach their children about emotions and how to deal with emotions.
When outdoor plans are off the table, your home can be a space for creativity, exploration, and learning. With a few simple activities, you can set up engaging ways for children to build skills and make discoveries right at home. Each option becomes a place where curiosity thrives, turning everyday moments into opportunities for growth and fun.
Introduce your child to the world of photography with just a simple camera or smartphone. This activity not only blends fun with learning but also allows them to express their unique perspective. Start with basic concepts like perspective and storytelling, and encourage them to explore different subjects such as toys or family members. By using straightforward lessons like the rule of thirds and leading lines, you can help them understand composition in an engaging way. This not only nurtures their artistic abilities but also equips them with a valuable skill set applicable across various areas of life.
Transform everyday items into a DIY weather station and watch as your child becomes a budding meteorologist. Building simple instruments like a weather vane, an anemometer, and a rain gauge can make science accessible and exciting. This hands-on activity encourages critical thinking and allows children to actively participate in tracking weather patterns. By following guides such as the Inventors of Tomorrow guide, kids can deepen their understanding of meteorological principles, making learning a fun journey.
Storytelling becomes a magical experience when props and puppets are involved. Let your child choose toys or everyday objects to weave into their narratives, making stories more captivating and realistic. Introducing puppets allows them to enact stories, boosting creative expression and emotional development. This engaging method not only makes storytelling sessions memorable but also aids in developing language and social skills.
Songwriting is a fantastic way for children to express creativitywhile learning about song structure and lyrical composition. Encourage them to start with a central theme or chorus, transforming everyday experiences into meaningful songs. This process empowers kids and enhances their ability to express themselves, turning indoor time into a fun and educational adventure.
Creating a nature-inspired collage with leaves, twigs, and other found objects can teach children about biodiversity and the arts. As they select and arrange materials, they learn about the environment’s intricate details. This activity can spark discussions about why certain plants and animals have distinct characteristics, like colors and shapes, fostering a sustainable mindset and appreciation for the natural world.
Turn mealtime into an educational experience by discussing the food pyramid. Introduce the different layers, such as grains, vegetables, and proteins, using fun activities like arranging ingredients into categories. This not only reinforces the importance of balanced nutrition but also empowers kids to make healthier food choices while preparing meals.
Balancing work-from-home responsibilities with parenting can be challenging, especially when the weather is uncooperative. A great strategy is to allow children to engage in educational activities like watching specific shows or using apps while you work. This creates a special privilege they can look forward to, minimizing distractions for you and ensuring they remain occupied. By setting these boundaries, you create a more balanced work environment and maintain focus, knowing your children are engaged and learning.
By embracing these moments together, you’re crafting experiences that will stay with your children long after the day is done. Each activity serves as a spark that fuels their sense of wonder, resilience, and creativity. While these activities fill your home with laughter and learning, they also build memories and skills that will serve them for years to come. So, dive into these indoor adventures and watch as your home becomes a true haven of inspiration, guiding young minds on a path toward endless discovery.
